Ashley & Michael - Featured Couples

Anyone would count themselves fortunate to have Either Ashley or Michael as a friend, but knowing both at the same time can only mean one thing... you're probably crazy.

We started Ashley and Michael's day at the Solomon Ortiz Center where Jayme (shown in photo # 4), the Catering Manager, had helped them both plan wedding that would successfully take in the happenings of the night. The affair had both a tradtional, and modern feel to it. The tables and chairs were covered in black, while the chairs were accented by red bows. The Yellow & Red Centerpieces, and all the floral were designed by Curtis at "Simply Elegant by Raymond", and Raymond himself put together the beautiful Bridal and Groom's cake which was made to order by the groom himself.

The wedding took place at the Ortiz Center in the main ballroom which was made possible by Jayme's fresh eye in wedding design. Ashley loved the unfinished cinderblock walls, and she had me do some romantic silhouettes by them. The vows were repeated and although the recessional looked more like a rapid retreat (they ran, rather than walked) back up the aisle... I saw the ending of the wedding more like they could'nt wait to start their new life together.

A wild couple needs a DJ who is able to keep up with them..... Dave Avalos of Five Star Entertainment provided all the music for the whole day's festivities. From the ceremonial tunes, to the Karaoke which provided many laughs through out the event.... We almost lost control of the night when the Ashley threw her garter into the decorations. Up she went, as the groom and his court lifted her up over their heads. It was too funny..... Fantastic Couple, Fantastic night.

Chris & Rudy - Featured Couples

WHAT A COUPLE, WHAT A NIGHT.
I had gotten to know Chris and Rudy pretty well by the time their wedding came around. I had photographed their engagement session and remember how she came to tears as she viewed the finished product. Her love for Rudy is more than apparent, and Rudy wears his love for her on his sleeve, but more moving still is the deep love she feels for her family. I could not remember a night when I felt so drawn in by the emotional connection between a bride and her Mother and Father. Mom lovingly watched as her daughters' day unfolded, with eyes always on the verge of joyful tears, and a smile that never left her face. Dad was a pilar of strength, and a source of comfort to any family member who felt need of his assurance.

I watched from a distance as Dad approched the bride's table. Dad drew near to his daugher and I saw a beautiful confident woman turn into daddy's little girl. Private whispers passed between them, then Chris melted into his arms..... I saw so much in that perfect moment, and felt fortunate enough to be a part of it.

Rev. Ralph Willis presided over Chris and Rudy's Ceremony which took place in the Nueces Ballroom. Tthe reception immediately following in the Bayview Room where Dave Avalos of Five Star Entertainment provided the Music for the event.

Love Conquers All

Some weddings stand out in my mind as so moving and memorable, that I would like to share a few with you.

My wife and I were planning a trip to the valley where my brother lives. Three days before the big trip, I got a call from a bride from Kingsville. She said her photographer, a friend, could not be found. She had seen my work and, really wanted me to be there if I could make the time. Since the wedding was on Friday night, and we were driving that way, my wife and I agreed.

One thing that became very apparent shortly after I arrived, was that there was that only one person in attendance representing the groom's family. It seems that his family did not agree with the his choice of soul mate and they would not attend. That was just the beginning of a slew of problems to follow that night. The catering, and the cake were late, and many other incidents took place, any of which would drive most brides crazy. However, nothing, nothing seemed to bother this couple.... they were so in love.

Every person in the hall was treated to the most emotional first dance they had ever seen. They held each other tightly, and tears of love and words of encouragement freely flowed from both. It was so heartwarming, that people in the hall sat silently watching the couples every move. I found myself scanning the room, searching for my wife to make a little connection of our own, and we both knew something special was happening. At the end of the night, I was left feeling blessed to have been a part of this couples' story.

Hi David,
Well I am jealous..... you didn't have this blog when I got married. You could put me on as an old bride... LOL. Anyway, I love it and keep it going, and I'll come by every once in a while. You helped me out so much when I got married, will you recommend a photograper (.... just kidding..l0l) a Cake company. I didn't like the one I had when I got married, I should have asked you. This is for my cousin who is getting married, and you will be photographing her wedding, even if you don't know it yet.

Yeah, I will help you with the cake thing, and anything else you need, (we have to learn from our mistakes, don't we girl). Becky & Bill - Featured Couple

Becky and Bill are a really neat couple. The word ordinary, will probably never be used in a sentence describing them. First they dragged me out winding roads.. I probably got lost about 3 times looking for their wedding location, but when I finally did find it, I was rewarded by one of the most charming wedding locations I have ever seen. I never knew that the "Old Park Pavillion" ever existed at Lake Corpus Christi. It overlooks the lake and it's breezeway is very refreshing even on a summer's day. It is Ideal for an outdoorsy type of wedding ceremony. I fell in love with all the photo opportunities at the location and I hope to shoot there again. After the ceremony which was presided over by Rev. Ralph Willis, we hit the winding roads, again, (I made sure and followed someone) until we came to their campsite where we spent the rest of the evening with the couple's family and friends.

Cathy & Carlos - Featured Couple

Cathy and Carlos got married at the SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Kathy, in my view, was brimming with almost uncontrollable excitement, but she had a quite strength about her that seemed to keep everything in check. Carlos, it seems was the strong silent type, but he wasn't too silent today. He enjoyed his whole day and was a very gracious host to everyone. this was a great couple, who are very much in love.

The reception was at the American Bank Center, and they were greeted upon arrival by Mariachi Classico. The Catering was provided by Top Hat, and the band was Kathy's brother's band.

My name is David Bazan, and I am very new to the blog scene. I'm not gonna lie to you, this blog is here to display some of my work, but more importantly, it is for those of you who have followed my publication "Wedding Notes" and have encouraged me to continue it.

Wedding Notes is an informational publication specifically for South Texas Brides. It's great to know what is happening in New York and Los Angeles, but what about the needs for brides in this area.
